HYLTON STUDENT IS SEMI-FINALIST IN COCA-COLA SCHOLARS PROGRAM
Brian B. Cory, a senior at C.D. Hylton High School, has been designated as a semifinalist in the 1999-00 Coca-Cola Scholars Program. Brian was among only 1,965 semifinalists chosen from more than 117,000 high school seniors from across the country.
Coca-Cola Scholarships are merit-based scholarships awarded to 250 high school seniors each year. Fifty are $20,000 scholarships and the remaining 200 are $4,000 scholarships. Recipients are selected based on school, civic and other extra curricular activities; academic achievement; and the motivation to serve and succeed. Personal character is also important.
On March 1, the names of 250 finalists in the awards program will be announced. The finalists will be invited to Atlanta for interviews to determine the level of their awards. Two hundred finalists will be designated as Regional Scholars and receive $4,000 awards. The remaining fifty will receive $20,000 scholarships.
