PARKSIDE CHESS CLUB TEAM WINS TOURNAMENT A team of students from Parkside Middle School earned first place honors in the Pennington School Beginners Chess tournament held November 23. Team Captain Ali Michael Chinisaz, Jason Arehart, Stuart Freeman and Sean Klassen earned medals and were among twelve participants from Parkside Middle School’s Chess Club to take part in the tournament. Parkside’s Chess Club was formed three years ago under the supervision of parent volunteer Fairy Chinisaz. The group has grown from seven members at its inception to a current total of 33 participants and has won a total of eight trophies, including three first places. Parkside’s Chess Club meets on alternate Thursdays in the school library after school. Other Parkside students participating in the Pennington tournament
were: Michael Tiea, Brian Troutman, Brenton Wolcott, Spencer Seaha, Aaron
Koepper, Luke Zimmerman, Kyle Jhenson and James Davis.
