The Middle/Senior Division of the Prince William-Manassas Regional Science Fair was held Saturday, March 18 at Metz Junior High School in Manassas.
The Grand Prize Winners were Matt Marcus, a seventh grade student at Saunders Middle School, who won for his ComputerScience entry “How to Approximate Pi Using a Computer”; and Tiffany Nichols, a senior at Osbourn Park High School, whowas chosen for her entry in the Botany category, “Determining How Road Dust and Cement Dust Effect the Growth and Temperature of the Pinus elliottii [pine trees] in the North American Subtropical Pine Forest Region.” As Grand Prize Winners, Matt received a plaque and a $100 savings bond, and Tiffany was awarded a plaque, a $500 bond and an expense-paid trip to the International Science and Engineering Fair in Philadelphia.
