WOODBRIDGE HIGH ROBOTICS TEAM SCORES
A team of students, teachers and community volunteers from Woodbridge
High School finished third of 268 teams in the qualifying portion of the
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics
competition held in April at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The
students, who participated in the project as an extra-curricular activity,
spent six weeks of after-school time fabricating and programming a robot
to competition specifications.
The Woodbridge team at the Nationals consisted of 25 students, three teacher advisors and four volunteer engineers. The team finished third of 268 teams in the qualifying portion of the competition. They were 6-1 in the seven qualifying matches. Before being eliminated, Woodbridge was one of the top 16 qualifying teams in the championship round. The Prince William County School Board will recognize Woodbridge High School’s Robotics Team for their accomplishments on May 3. At that time, the students will conduct a demonstration of their robot. The following students, teachers and community volunteers participated in the project.
