FRED LYNN STUDENTS WILL BE HONORED AT THE ENVIROBAG AWARDS LUNCHEON ON APRIL 18, 2001

Work and Family Studies club members at Fred Lynn Middle School will be honored at the ENVIROBAG awards luncheon Earth Day celebration on April 18 at the Alexandria Hilton from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  Club members collect and recycle clean, 2 loop handled plastic grocery bags from school homerooms and send them to ENVIROBAGS.  The school is paid by the pound for the bags and new plastic trash bags are made by ENVIROBAGS.

Carol Moonan, advisor, and students Katie Beach, Claudia Gallegos, Ashley Gorham, Natasha Mawani, Jessica McEntire and Leah Simmons will represent the Work and Family Studies Club at the luncheon.

The ENVIROBAGS recycling project started with a grant from Kaiser Permanante three years ago.  In 1999, the club donated $1000 to ACTS SAVAS and Turning Points to help stop domestic violence.  Last year, the club raised $700 and gave it toward the cost of the school’s new outdoor track.  This year, proceeds will be used for ice cream parties for students who exhibit good behavior.
