SINCLAIR STUDENT WINS $4,000 DARE TO DREAM SCHOLARSHIP

Richard Thai, a fifth grade student at Sinclair Elementary School in Manassas, will receive a $4,000 scholarship as a national winner in BrainstormUSA’s Dare to Dream - Expect to Succeed program.  Richard, 10, the son of Thaison and Teresa of Manassas, will be recognized at a ceremony at Sinclair on April 17 at 9:30 a.m.   Sinclair Elementary School is located at 7801 Garner Drive in Manassas.

Sinclair Elementary and Richard’s teacher, Sandra Jerzak, will each receive a Premio computer with educational software.  Dasjah Berry, 6, daughter of Eddie Berry and Tonya Diamond of Manassas and a first grader at Sinclair, was awarded honorable mention and received educational software.

The Dare to Dream program awards scholarships, computers and educational software based on competitively judged essays, poems, multi-media presentations and other creative projects submitted by children and accompanied by a letter of support from their parents.  Richard, who dreams of becoming a scientist, drew a giant, colorful poster illustrating four types of scientists at work: an archeologist, an astronomer, an oceanographer, and a chemist as his entry in the competition.

To attend the ceremony and/or schedule an interview, please call Danny Lichtenstein at 1-800-595-5561, ext. 274.
