SCHOOL BANDS RECOGNIZED AS VIRGINIA HONOR BANDS The Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association (VBODA) has recognized four Prince William County high school bands as Virginia Honor Bands for the 1999-2000 school year. This award is the highest honor that can be bestowed on a high school band in the Commonwealth. C.D. Hylton High School, Dennis Brown, director; Potomac High School, Matt Brodt, director; Stonewall Jackson High School, Elizabeth Boivin, director; and Woodbridge High School, Gary Zolman, director; will be recognized at the June 28 meeting of the Prince William County School Board for their accomplishments. The award is presented only to those schools earning a Superior rating at both the VBODA State Marching Festival, at which the schools’ marching bands perform, and the VBODA District Band Festival, which features the schools’ symphonic bands. Only forty-two band programs in the Commonwealth qualified for this award in 1999-2000. ###
