 Thirty individual Prince William County Public School employees, one department and seven teams of employees were recognized by the School Board at the fifth annual Staff Recognition awards ceremony on Monday June 4 at Saunders Middle School.  The purpose of the awards is to recognize and promote excellence in the school division.  The awards are presented in three categories:  Courage, awarded to an individual who has performed well despite overcoming a major obstacle or for his or her heroic action; Achievement, awarded for a specific accomplishment; and Performance, awarded to employees, teams, departments, or schools for outstanding performance over a period of time.

The Courage Award will be presented to Beverly Burner, New Dominion School; Ginette Cain, Hylton High School; Wendi Kara, Woodbridge High School; and Janice Mimm, Springwoods Elementary School.  Steven M. Constantino, principal of Stonewall Jackson High School, will receive an Achievement Award.  The following are the recipients of the Outstanding Performance Award: Jon Allen, Brentsville District Middle/High School; Phyllis Arnoldi, New Dominion School; Wandalyn Boley, Stonewall Jackson High School; Andrea L. Lusardi, Woodbridge High School; Don Maeyer, Woodbridge High School; Betty S. Matthews, Featherstone Elementary School; Cathy McMurtrey, Lake Ridge Elementary School; Ernest Nixon, Potomac High School; Hannah P. Teams and departments receiving Outstanding Performance Awards include: the Brake Recall Team, Transportation; Custodial Staff, Brentsville District Middle/High School; International Baccalaureate Team, Gar-Field High School; Gifted Education Resource Team, Middle School; Help Desk Team, Data Center; Inclement Weather Emergency Team, Transportation; the Second Grade Team, Pennington School; and the Language Arts Department at Hylton High School.
