FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE N.R. #51, 10/5/01 Date: October 5, 2001
INSPIRING TEACHERS NEEDED FOR OUTSTANDING TEACHER AWARD Do you have a favorite teacher, one who goes the extra mile for students, who stands above the crowd? Consider nominating her, or him, for the Prince William County Teacher of the Year Award. The deadline for submitting packets to the Prince William County Public Schools Community Relations Office is Tuesday, November 27, 2001. Nomination packets are available from the Community Relations Office, Prince William County Public Schools, P.O. Box 389, Manassas, VA 20108, at 703-791-8720. Nominees must be full-time certified teachers in good standing (including itinerants) in grades pre-kindergarten through twelve, who have completed at least three years as a teacher in the Prince William County school division. The nominee’s students must have demonstrated continuous improvement as defined by the school’s academic targets/performance standards. Anyone, including parents, students, former students, administrators and the general public, may nominate a teacher, but teachers may not nominate themselves. There is no limit on the number of teachers who may be nominated
from a particular school. Teachers who have received the award in the past
five years are not eligible, but a teacher who has been nominated, but
not selected, may be re-nominated.
