ANN LUDWIG WINS SCHOOL OF THE YEAR AWARD

Ann Ludwig Special Education School in Woodbridge has been selected as the School of the Year in the county school division’s annual housekeeping awards program.  The School of the Year Good Housekeeping Award was presented to Building Manager Mitch Webster by Chris Bohne, supervisor of  plant operations for the school division, at the annual Custodial Awards Banquet.

The School of the Year Award is given to a school for outstanding custodial performance, management and cleanliness and for maintaining the highest average score on monthly evaluations throughout the school year.  Ann Ludwig received the highest number of points of all the county’s sixty-eight schools and administration buildings during the 1999-2000 school year. More than 320 custodians maintain about 5,984,000 square feet of building space, Bohne said.
Housekeeping cleanliness awards are given annually to the schools and administrative facilities that attain the highest average scores on periodic evaluations.  The sanitation evaluations cover all areas of a facility, from the parking lots and landscaping, classrooms, gymnasiums, custodial closets and equipment and everything in between, said Bohne.  The categories in which schools earn awards include special, high school and middle school and, for elementary schools, each of the three school-based management areas.

In addition to Ann Ludwig, first-place recipients of the 2000 Housekeeping Cleanliness Awards and their custodial managers are: Leesylvania Elementary, Lisa Welch; Bennett Elementary, Sue Helton; King Elementary, Christen Matthews; Lake Ridge Middle,
Lloyd Harlow; and Gar-Field High, Anthony Lovelace.
