Outstanding Agency Accreditation Achievement Award, National Institute of Governmental Purchasing June 7, 2000 The National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) has presented an Outstanding Agency Accreditation Achievement Award to the Prince William County Public Schools Purchasing Department. The award is based on procedures and the dollar value of the business, among other factors. PWCPS annually procures between $100 and $300 million in goods and services. There are two accreditation tiers in the NIGP Accreditation Program. The Agency Accreditation Achievement Award is presented to those agencies demonstrating excellence in public procurement. The Outstanding Agency Accreditation Award is presented to those agencies that demonstrate excellence in public procurement and are among the leaders in the public procurement profession. NGIP establishes a body of standards that should be in place for a solid
purchasing program. This accreditation has a significant impact on
agency credibility, recognition and improved bond ratings.
