Hello and welcome to my Belmont Elementary Webpage. My name is Sarah
Bayne. My first year at Belmont was 2003, as a Fourth Grade teacher. As part
of a child’s educational process, I feel it is very important for you to get to know
me as well as for the students at Belmont.
I am originally from Butler, Pennsylvania, a city just north of Pittsburgh,
where I grew up with my parents and my older brother. While in Butler I
developed a passion for music, dance, and teaching, and decide to pursue those
particular interests as I furthered my education.
After high school I relocated to State College, Pennsylvania, during the
school year, and began attending Penn State University. I graduated from Penn
State in May 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. After
graduation I relocated to Fairfax, Virginia in August 2003, where I currently
reside, and began my professional career as a Fourth Grade teacher at Belmont.
To expand on my educational interests, I have recently completed a
Master’s of Science in Education degree program from Walden University.
Through a five semester program I completed research and inquiry projects,
documented observations of student and teacher interactions and participated in
readings, videos seminars, and discussion forums with focus on many literacy
aspects. Upon graduation, I earned a Master’s in Elementary Reading and
Literacy and have since implemented many strategies in my classroom, to further
the success of my students.
In addition to teaching Fourth Grade, I spend several evenings a week
teaching and taking dance classes in Chantilly, Virginia, as I have yet to give up my
passion of dance.
