My name is Mrs Kaz. and I am the music teacher at Belmont. I came to
Belmont the beginning of the 2006 school year and I really enjoy it here.
I believe that music is important to educational development at all grade
levels. Students continually refine their social and listening skills, physical
coordination, and language and math skills through music.
My curriculum covers note reading and writing, performing on percussion
instruments, singing, general instrument knowledge, composition, and
music appreciation. The upper grades include lessons about famous
composers throughout history and how their music has helped define our
culture. We are also including lessons on famous singers and dancers,
and have enjoyed some famous musical movies, a genre which is rarely
produced in modern times.
The general curriculum is integrated into music whenever possible. My
goal is to expose students to as many facets of music as possible so they
may learn to have a deep appreciation for the arts.
