WELCOME TO
MS. STONEBURNER'S FOURTH GRADE SUPERSTARS

Welcome to your child's school world!

My name is Pauline Stoneburner.   I am proud to be a native of Virginia, and a member of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Organization for Women Educators.

I earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.   I began teaching in Prince William County in 1973.   I have had the privilege of teaching at Belmont since 1982!

I strive to create an optimal learning environment with a nurturing atmosphere where each individual is inspired to achieve success.

On October 18th, we will attend Farm Field Day at Prince William County Fairgrounds. In December, we will visit Hylton High School's Skydome Planetarium.    We will take a writing test in March, and a test on Virginia history in May.   Each child must prepare a science fair project (due in March) which follows the scientific process.

Ways you can continue to assist me:
send paper and pencils
send water bottles with water only inside (not juice)
send a nutritious snack daily (sandwich)
sign the agenda daily
read our newsletters
send notes for absences
report lost textbooks immediately
visit the public library often
visit historic sites like Gunston Hall.

Regular attendance is a necessity! Homework is an important responsibility.   Students must read every night.   Math facts, telling time, counting change, and measuring are reinforced easily at home. Read to your child, and encourage your child to read and participate in the Accelerated Reader program.

School is serious! Proper rest and nutrition are essential to achieve proficiency. Expectations are clearly stated in the Virginia Standards of Learning. Be sure your child's vision is adequate! Four out of ten children in the U.S. have problems. I have a list of symptoms of visual problems which you may borrow.

We exercise daily. Please be sure your child wears safe shoes. I recommend jumping rope at home.

Each child needs paper, pencils, and a signed agenda.

I am enjoying working with your child! If you have questions, please visit, e-mail, or call (703)494-4945. Together we can make this year your child's best school year ever!

Parents may send questions to Ms. Stoneburner's e-mail address.
