Mrs. Kearns

I have been teaching at Belmont Elementary School since 1993. My degrees include: Bachelor of Music Performance in Flute; Music Education Certification – Instrumental; Master’s of Science in Education (Elementary).

My philosophy for music education is “Practice Makes Better”. The more your child practices the better he/she will play the instrument. Ask your child to play for you and I guarantee the smiles will abound!! Also, please feel free to visit our classes anytime.

The objectives for Fifth Grade Strings are:

•	First position fingerings on the D & A strings
•	Proper bow grip and usage
•	Reading actual music notation for all notes in the D Major Scale
•	Performing numerous selections in the book as a soloist and a group member
•	Performing for other classrooms and teachers in Belmont

As noted above, my major area of study was in flute performance. I still play my flute for church during Sunday services and special occasions throughout the year. I particularly love to play with our teen choir as the children are always full of energy and fun!
