Hello,
My name is Scott Sullivan and I am a third grade teacher here at Belmont
Elementary School. I come here from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where I attended Duquesne
University and earned my bachelors degree in elementary education. I spent four years in
Pittsburgh working in various school districts with students ranging from kindergarten to
eighth grade. I worked for a year and a half as an assistant in a special education
classroom, and spent five months working in a life skills classroom with children with
autism. I also spent time teaching sixth and eighth mathematics, and third grade. I began
my work here in Virginia right here at Belmont as a fifth grade teacher for about 7 weeks
in 2005. Unfortunately, I was reassigned to another elementary school for the remainder
of 2005 where I taught third grade. I am very excited to once again be a part of the
Belmont family.
I am a sports enthusiast enjoying just about any sport, with a passion for
basketball, golf, and football. Many of my Saturdays and Sundays are spent in front of
the television flipping back and forth between two games. I am a die-hard Pittsburgh
Steeler fan. I hope that does not offend any parents who are Redskin or Raven fans.
Most of my other free time is spent outdoors in the sun, in front of a computer (playing,
not working), and eating (just about anything).
I believe the students will enjoy this year and my class. My teaching style reflects
my personality which is calm and easy-going. I also have a healthy sense of humor which
quite often comes out in the classroom. However, I want parents and students to know that
my expectations are high, and students will be held accountable for their work, behavior,
and responsibilities. Once again, I look forward to this school year, and I wish us all a
year filled with excitement and success.
Scott Sullivan
