INCLEMENT WEATHER

(Delayed openings and early dismissals)

School closings will be announced on the PWCS homepage as soon as decisions are made.  See the top of the Announcements section on that page.

As winter approaches we are beginning to plan for inclement weather and the schedule changes that may need to be done in order to accommodate 1-hour and 2-hours early dismissals.  I want to remind and encourage you to have a plan in place for supervision of your child on such days.  If we are opening late on any particular morning, your child should not be dropped off at school at the usual time.  This is also true for early dismissals.  As staff will have to get home after student release, students can not be at the school once buses have departed.  Please plan your child’s supervision needs accordingly.

Additionally, if there is a two hour early dismissal, there may not exist the opportunity for all students to be served a lunch.  A  2-hours-early release means dismissal at 1:00 PM.  At 1 PM we are in our 5th lunch shift with our 6th lunch to be served at 1:15 PM.  If we receive word early enough of an early closing, we will make all efforts to serve lunch to all students, however, this can not be guaranteed.  I present this to you so that you are aware of this possibility and that plans can be made in advance should this situation arise.

I thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
