Bristow
Run is on a six day rotation for encore classes. Your students will come to
music once every six school days. The music time is 45 minutes for all students
in grades 1 thru 5.
K
students attend music once every other rotation and meet for 45 minutes.
DONATIONS
Over 900 students visit the music rooms each week.
Donations of hand sanitizer and tissues would be appreciated.
FOLDERS
I would like all general
music students in grades 3 thru 5 to have a two pocket folder for general music
class. Students may use their music folder from last year.
MUSIC
Music is an integral part of humanity and is
therefore an essential part of education. It serves as a vehicle for enjoyment
and personal expression through which cultural heritage is passed on to each
generation. Every student will have opportunities to perform, create,
investigate, and connect music of many cultures, styles, and historical periods.
Through
music education, our students will obtain skills necessary to develop and use
their musical creativity and talent to the fullest of their capabilities. This
will enrich their lives and the lives of others as they share their music. As
they study music, students will learn to think, solve problems and communicate
as they work toward a common goal. The knowledge of music empowers students to
contribute to society and to respect and appreciate cultural similarities and
differences.
In The Classroom
K and First grade classes have all enjoyed the book Froggy Plays in the Band by
Jonathan London.

Second grade students have been reading
the book: My Family Plays Music by Judy
Cox. Students
have been looking at the percussion instruments played by the girl in the book.
Third, Fourth and Fifth grade general music students all
read the Constitution Rap and classes have been viewing a video on the story of
our National Anthem-The Star Spangled
Banner.
This year the Music Educators National
Conference (MENC) is promoting the National Anthem agenda.
