Cedar Point Classroom Nutritional Guidelines
Dear Cedar Point Community,
At Cedar Point, we help our
students move toward a winning future.
We nurture not just the academic and intellectual development of our students,
but also their health and well-being.
With this in mind we have developed a set of Nutritional Guidelines to
help our students make good choices about their bodies. A healthy body is a great first step in
achieving academic and intellectual excellence.
We hope you will help our students be the best they can be by using
these helpful guidelines when preparing your child’s snacks for school.
Thank you for your support in
our endeavor to help our students move toward a winning future!
Sincerely,
The Cedar Point Principal’s
Advisory Council
Nutritional Guidelines
Healthy snacks will prepare
our students to make healthy choices for themselves.
1)
The healthy
snacks you send for your child will be in age-appropriate portions. Suggestions include fresh fruit, raw
vegetables, string cheese, cheese and crackers, pretzels, a cup of applesauce,
granola bars or yogurt. Water is a great
way to complete a healthy snack.
2)
Any food brought
in to share with the class must be store-bought, in the original container with
the ingredients printed on the package.
Check the label to be sure it does not contain, come in contact with, or
may be made on the same equipment as any items on the list of classroom
allergies.
3)
Food and candy
will not be used as a reward. Candy will
not be used as manipulatives.
4)
Please refer to
your child’s teacher’s policy regarding birthday recognition.
5)
Suggestions for
alternatives to a birthday snack:
a. Donate a book to the Cedar Point library in your
child’s name.
b. Donate a piece of athletic equipment (soccer ball,
jump rope, Nerf ball, Frisbee, etc.) to your child’s classroom.
c. Donate a board game to your child’s classroom for
indoor recess.
d. Donate a book to your child’s classroom library.
6)
In accordance
with Cedar Point policy, there are two classroom parties per year. Please work closely with the Room Mother to
coordinate donations for the parties to ensure they meet the school and
classroom nutritional guidelines.
