Dale City Elementary School Procedures
- School hours are 9:00 to 3:30 Mon-Fri
- Students are not to arrive at school before 8:30 (except for SAC)
- Breakfast starts at 8:30. Walkers must be in line by 8:50.
- If your student needs to take medicine at school the parent must bring the medicine to school and fill out a permission form.
- Parents must call the office by 8:30 a.m. on any day their child will be absent.
- Students may not “sign themselves in” to school.
- Students who are tardy arriving (9:00 a.m. or later) must be escorted to the office by a parent.
- Please make sure the office has any updated telephone information. We frequently encounter non working cell phone numbers, work numbers, etc. for parents and baby-sitters.
It is important to establish good attendance habits. Children are expected to be in school unless they are ill or have emergency situations. Whenever possible, please avoid keeping children out or removing them from school early for vacations, shopping, family outings or appointments. We are trying to protect instructional time from interruptions and intrusions. Each time we must call a child for a parent it disrupts an entire class. Please help us by not asking for your child during school hours unless absolutely necessary.
If your child must be absent, please call the office by 9:30 a.m. on the day of the absence. A written excuse signed by a parent should be given to the teacher within two days of your child's return to school unless the absence was previously arranged. If you expect your child to be absent for more than three days in a row, please contact the teacher. Fifteen (15) days of consecutive absence will result in the student being dropped from the attendance rolls, in accordance with state regulations.
