  • National leader in site-based management of schools.
  • Designated as lead school division to develop Virginia Standards of Learning for Science.

  • Adopted Strategic Plan, FY 2005-2009.
  • Revised and improved K-12 curriculum to raise student expectations and performance.
  • First school division in the nation to institute data warehouse using Oracle programs.
  • Developed and implemented Curriculum Management System testing in all schools.
  • Implemented PWCPS E-News, an online news subscription service for the Prince William Public Schools community.
  • Installed networked computers with Internet access in each classroom and office.
  • Created specialty instructional programs.
  • Installed Edulink Intouch Online, a 2-way Internet and phone communication system between parents and schools.
  • Established an office of student management and alternative education program.

EFFICIENCIES 
  • An energy management program has saved the school division nearly $3.6 million since it began in 1995.
  • Since 1992, school division operations have undergone three reviews by citizen advisory committees and an audit by a professional management firm, which described Prince William as “an exceptionally well-run and cost-efficient system.”


PARTNERSHIPS 
  • Northern Virginia Regional Partnership, Inc. – Includes representatives from high technology industries, local government officials, educators, and civic leaders. 
  • Northern Virginia Community College Summer Technology Program -- Serves up to 400 middle school students.
  • Partnership Prince William – Founded in 1999 by Prince William County Public Schools, the Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Prince William County Education Foundation, and the Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce. See www.pwcspartnership.org.
