Enterprise Elementary School
Summer Reading Program

The purpose of the Summer Reading Program is to encourage students to enjoy quality literature and to continue developing their independent reading skills.  Student participation in the program is voluntary.  Students who choose to participate in the program are required to complete a minimum number of books over the summer.

Choices are not limited to those suggested above.
2 List each book read, including title of the book, name of the author, and a parent or guardian statement that the student has completed the reading.
3 For Grades K-4 students who participate in the Prince William County Public Library's Summer Quest Program, the Summer Quest documentation will apply.
Explanation of Extra Credit
1 Students in Grades K-2 will receive an extra S+ for each book completed, for a total of five.
2 Extra credit for grades K-8 will count 10% of a student's grade in the affected marking period.
3 Completion of the summer reading will be recorded for students by the end of the second week of school.

1 Keep a list of books read, using the following guidelines:  Students in Grades 5-12 will provide the author, title, publishing information, and an explanation of the general topic or plot of the book along with a parent or guardian statement that the student has completed the reading.
2 The format to use in recording the bibliographic information includes the name of the author, the title of the book, the location and name of the publisher and date of the publication.  Example: 

Fixx, James F. The Complete Book of Running.
      New York: Random House, 1977.

3 For Grades 5-12 students who participate in Prince William County Public Library's Summer Quest Program or Teen Quest Program, that documentation will apply.
4 Choices of books read are not limited to the suggestions in the list above.
