Dance Team

Practices are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

Because we are a "club" we have to raise our own money and with all of our compeitions and outfits the dance team can be very expensive. We raise money for the team by doing several fundraisers from car washes, pancake breakfasts, smencil sales, and candy grams (seasonal). The dance team follows the same rules on eligbility on grades and behavior as the sports teams. Try outs are held in the spring. During the summer we have one week of dance camp (usually two weeks before school starts) where the members learn dance technique and about two routines during this time. If anyone is interested in trying out for the dance team next year please contact Ms. McNeal during the spring. There will also be several announcements at school as to when tryouts will begin.

To be invited to join, a student must, by the third nine weeks of their seventh grade year, have maintained at least a 3.5 grade point average. The club performs numerous service projects throughout the year, including Operation Turkey- a Thanksgiving food drive, Pennies for Patients- a fund drive for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and organizing the 8th Grade dance. In between service projects, NJHS takes around three field trips throughout the year to places like the Holocaust Museum and the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Center. The students of the National Junior Honor Society not only strive for excellence in academics, but in service as well.
