Hi!   My name is Mrs. Swartz.

I am the new Instructional Technology Resource Teacher (ITRT) at King. I have been working for PWCS since 1977. I taught grades K-5 at Bel-Air until 1991. That year I began working as an Elementary Counselor. For the next eleven years I worked as a counselor at McAuliffe, Vaughn, Nokesville and Bel-Air.   In 2002 I returned to the classroom as a second grade teacher at McAuliffe.   As a second grade teacher I learned a lot about integrating technology into the curriculum. My favorite lessons involved using many of the new technology tools. This year I am thrilled to begin my first year as an ITRT.

In my new role as ITRT, I work with teachers and students all over the building as we integrate technology into instruction.
I have discovered that teachers at King are "Tech-Savvy". They use available technologies such as; United Streaming, Smart Boards, Internet Web Quests, Blogs, Calculators, LCD Projectors, Microsoft Office programs, Movie Makers, Wikispaces, Senteo Instant Response Clickers, Wireless Mobile Computer Labs and more!   My job is to help teachers locate activities, train them on new technologies and work with them as they integrate lessons in the classroom.   I also meet with each class once every twelve days in the computer lab. Here, I teach computer competencies while integrating core subject areas.

We have a new instructional drive at King. Using networked computers, students are able to work on projects in the computer lab or classroom and save them on a network drive This allows them to access their files from any networked computer in the building.
