Introduction

§         What do you know about the real life of Jackie Robinson? Like our main character, Shirley, he had many hardships to overcome before he became the famous athlete we know. See how much you can find out about our baseball hero, then you will be writing an essay.

The Task: Writing a Compare Contrast Essay

§         You will visit a website on Jackie Robinson and read the article about Jackie Robinson's life. Using the compare and contrast table, you will organize information about Jackie Robinson and Shirley Temple Wong and their feelings each of them expressed when they were experiencing their hardships when they were in New York.

§         You will then take the information from your compare/contrast table and write a one-page paper comparing the fictional Shirley with the actual Jackie Robinson.

§         You will use the attached compare and contrast table for the next item.

§         Think about Shirley and Jackie Robinson and write down three characteristic traits that each possessed . For example, were they quitters, followers, leaders, happy, intelligent...

§         Think about ways they are alike and different.

§         Write details supporting your ideas under each characters name.

§         Use your compare/contrast table to guide you in writing a one page essay about Shirley Temple Wong and Jackie Robinson.

§         Tell about character traits which make them good role models.

§         Tell how they are alike and how they are different.

Your essay must meet these requirements:

§         It must be at least three paragraphs long and have good supporting details for each point you make

You must edit, make corrections in spelling and grammar and rewrite your essay neatly before you turn it in to me.
