Objective of this lesson is to  reinforce Character Education. The students will use Kidspiration to create a character map of the main characters.

Amount of time required for activity: 2 classes

Introduction: 

The students will follow along as they listen to The Fisherman and His Wife from Candlelight Stories (http://www.candlelightstories.com/)

The story is illustrated on line as well as read to them.

As a group, students will decide on which character from the story they would like to ‘web’. Select a picture to represent the story. Together discuss 3 adjectives that describe the character. Students will brain storm together the example to back-up their chosen adjective.

a)      Preview the selection by using pictures, diagrams, titles, and headings.

b)      Set purpose for reading.

2.12     The student will edit writing for correct grammar, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.

a)      Recognize and use complete sentences.

b)      Capitalize all proper nouns and the word I.

Closure:  Once the webs have been completed, they are to be printed out for evaluation.
