LAST
DAY OF SCHOOL
June 13 is the last day of
school for students. Please note that June 13 is an early
out day. The posted time of dismissal is 12:30; however, it
often takes buses longer to get here. We will be adjusting
our lunch schedule to help us make this dismissal time.
Lunch will be served beginning at 10:30.
Report Cards
Report cards will be given
out on the last day of school. If your child is not
in school that day, the report card may be picked up in the
office June 16-30 or in August. Report cards will NOT
be mailed home.
Summer
Registration
The Marshall Elementary
regular office will be open most of the month of July. Since
the office staff are off most of July, it is wise to phone
ahead to make sure the staff member needed will be in before
you come to school. Registration for the 2008-2009 school
year will continue until June 30, and will begin again in
early August. If you need to register a student, please
call after August 1 to set up an appointment. You can
help us by passing this information on to new neighbors.
Hours during the summer will be 8-12 and 2-4.
THE DEADLINE FOR CLASSROOM INPUT WAS MAY 30. REQUESTS
ARRIVING AFTER THAT DATE CAN NOT BE HONORED.
Summer School
Marshall Elementary is the central site for summer school
this year. Summer school dates are July 7-25. The
student hours are 9-12:30. Classes will be held Monday
through Friday.
The summer school principal and her staff will be happy to
answer your summer school questions. They will not be able
to answer questions pertaining to Marshall Elementary and
the 2008-2009 school year.
Summer school transportation information will be posted in
the front window of Marshall Elementary as soon as it
arrives in the building. It usually comes in the last week
of June.
MULTICULTURAL NIGHT AT
MARSHALL
Planning has already begun for a Multicultural Night at
Marshall for the 2008-2009 school year. We are looking for
parents with ideas and a willingness to help us coordinate
this special event. Perhaps you have experienced this type
of event at another school or you just have creative ideas
to share. Please contact Kay Hermeling to sign up, share
ideas, or gather more information.
Wellness at
Marshall
One
of the county initiatives for the 2008-2009 school year is
good health and wellness of our students and staff. With
this in mind, we are planning several events. We welcome
parent input.
The
Advisory Council is spearheading committees to work on
Multicultural Night and Wellness at Marshall, so look for
more details in the near future.
Joyce
Campbell, RN
All medications, inhalers, and epipens in the clinic must be picked up
by a parent before the last day of school. Medications not
picked up will be discarded. Forms for next year may also
be picked up.
Please contact our school
nurse, Joyce Campbell, R.N., if you have any questions or
concerns. (703.791.2099)
Have a healthy summer and
remember to use sunscreen!
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS
2008-2009
Back to school night for
kindergarten, first, and second grades will be Wednesday,
Sept. 17. Back to school night for third, fourth, and fifth
grades will be Thursday, Sept. 18.
BOX TOPS
FOR EDUCATION
Even though the
2007-2008 school year has come to an end, please continue to
clip and save your box tops over the summer months. Place
them in an old coffee can or Tupperware box and send them in
with your child in September. This will ensure a great head
start for the new school year.

Have a
wonderful summer and keep on clipping.
MyLunchMoney.com
The mylunchmoney.com service for prepayments into
cafeteria accounts will not be available after June 12 for
this school year.
Parents using the “Smart Pay” option may want to
cancel the smart pay option prior to June 12 if they do not
want a prepayment generated at the end of the school year.
Any student(s) leaving Prince William County Schools
should contact the cafeteria regarding a refund.
mylunchmoney.com will be available August 18,
2008 for the 2008-2009 school year.
A reminder, cash or checks are also accepted as prepayments
in the cafeteria. |

BOWLING
COMING TO MARSHALL!!!!!!!
We will again be having Rolling
Bowling in the school parking lot for all the classes June 2-6. This
is always a big hit with the students. They will have a chance to
get on a real bowling alley and use a real bowling ball. All
students will receive a FREE pass for bowling. We look forward to
seeing ROLLING BOWLING again!

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
Once again, the staff at
Marshall was totally overwhelmed by your generosity during Teacher
Appreciation Week. You spoiled us rotten! We had a fabulous
week, starting with the delicious breakfast on Monday. We felt very
loved and appreciated.
We feel tremendous
gratitude for all your donations of food, money, gifts, and most
importantly, for all the time you spend making our jobs so much
easier. Every time you walk into the volunteer room or one of our
classrooms or run to the store for a “wish list” item, you give us
the gift of yourself, and we cannot thank you enough.
We’d like to express extra
thanks to Shanon Garner and her PTO crew who went above and beyond
to make this week happen.
Thank you all for a
fabulous week and a wonderful school year!
Sincerely,
Marshall
Elementary Staff

From all of us, have a wonderful, relaxing and safe summer. We hope
to see you all back in September! For those families leaving us,
thank you for being a part of our Marshall Family. |
