Introduction:
Have you been outside of your county to see the
rest of your state? Most students haven’t. This project combines the
art of scrapbooking, family travel, and technology. It gives
students the opportunity to expand their horizons and go where
they’ve never gone before. In addition, it gets them away from the
TV, computer and game box and into scrapbooking! We’re talking real
family bonding time!
Traditional
scrapbooking is the practice of combining photos, memorabilia
and stories in a scrapbook style album. Scrapbooking is the fastest
growing craft industry in the United States and a great way for
students to showcase what they’ve learned!
Process:
You will put together a scrapbook using any of the layouts from our
program, Scrapbook Deluxe©, that will illustrate the unique
characteristics found in the five regions of Virginia. What do you
want your classmates and teacher to see?Gather lots of pictures and
please follow the guidelines.
Your book must include the following:
- At least 2
pictures from each region. You can bring your own pictures
from a trip you've taken, or search the web for fascinating
photos of our great state!
- A narrative
describing the importance of the picture you selected.
- If you use your own
picture, make the narrative personal, for example, were
you disappointed? Did the place meet your expectations? What
were your first feelings when you got there? Do you think it was
worth going to?
- Follow the scrapbook
tips to help you.
Guidelines:
A
digital scrapbook differs slightly from the traditional scrapbook.
Instead of assembling your materials by cutting and pasting your
photos and information into a book, we will create the entire layout
on the computer by using Scrapbook Deluxe©.
This method is a bit cheaper, easy to store (on your computer or a
CD) less messy, more cost efficient and you can Save time: No trips
to the store, materials are available 24/7 either online or on your
computer. Creating a digital layout can take as little as 15 minutes
or up to about an hour once you master the basic techniques,
and the results are wonderful!
