Taxation without Representation? Slogans
4th & 5th Grade

Back to Computer Lab

The Revolutionary War was full of catch phrases, sound bites and slogans. For example, do you know who said these and why?

Task #1: You will find who did say these and why. What do these quotes tell us about our Founding Fathers?

"No taxation without representation!"
"I have not yet begun to fight."
"Don't tread on me."

"Give me liberty, or give me death!"

“Few men have virtue to withstand the highest bidder.”

Task #2

Good slogans sum up important ideas in ways that are easy to remember. Think about an issue from the colonial times that would have been important to you. Then, get together with your group and brainstorm some slogans for that issue. Using a computer, print horse buggy stickers (no cars, remember?) with the slogan that works best.
