| The Task: Students will use Microsoft Paint to go from an outline of an Artic Animal to a 3D animal. The Process: This project will be done in three parts: Part 1: Students will select a symbol of Virginia from the following list: Symbols of Virginia 1. state bird-cardinal 2. state flower-American dogwood 3. state dog-American fox hound 4. state boat-Chesapeake Bay deadrise 5. state dance-square dance 6. state insect-tiger swallowtail butterfly 7. state fish-brook trout 8. state shell-oyster 9. state fossil-Chesapecten jeffersonius 10. state beverage-milk 11. state bat-Virginia Big Eared Bat 12. Great Seal of the Commonwealth 13. State flag 14. State tree: flowering dogwood 15. Booker T. Washington 16. Thomas Jefferson 17. Natural Bridge 18. Mt. Vernon 19. George Washington 20. Patrick Henry 21. Richmond 22. James Monroe 23. state flag 24. state tree-flowering dogwood When you get your symbol, you will then draw you symbol using Microsoft Paint. On to Part 2
Part 2: In the library, students will use the Information Management System to create a set of questions and answer regarding their symbol. Part 3: Students will take their outline to Mrs. Lee, Art Teacher, and by using different textured materials, turn your flat symbol into a 3D picture!
