CyberSmart Curriculum

 
This K-8 curriculum was developed and published as a joint effort of CyberSmart and Macmillan McGraw-Hill. It teaches "safe, responsible, and effective use of school technology and complements all academic subjects." (Grade Level: K-2, 3-5, 6-8)
   
KidzPrivacy This site explains the 1998 Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), which took effect on April 21, 2000. Sponsored by the Federal Trade Commission, KidzPrivacy is part of a national kid's privacy educational campaign. (Grade Level: K-12)
   
wNetSchool WNetSchool is a Web service for K-12 teachers provided by Thirteen/WNET, the major media producer for American Public Television. The site is designed in collaboration with Master Teachers and offers lesson plans for core curriculum topics that utilize technology in the classroom, including the film and web resources of Thirteen/WNET. The Braille Bug

 
The Braille Bug Web site for children was developed by the American Foundation for the Blind with the hope that children will not only learn about Braille but also increase their understanding of people with disabilities. (Grade Level: 3-5, 6-8, Parents)
   
Kids Online Magazine Kids Online Magazine is aimed at motivating children to be more enthusiastic about writing. It is a place where children can share their writing and artwork with others around the world. (Grade Level: Pre-K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12)
   
HandSpeak: A Sign Language Dictionary Online HandSpeak is an animated dictionary of sign language. A new sign is added daily. (Grade Level: K-12, Advanced)
   
Literacy Center This site from the Early Childhood Education Network provides lots of early literacy learning activities for young children.  (Grade Level:PreK-K)
   
Merriam-Webster Online The Merriam-Webster site features on-line Dictionaries, a Thesaurus, Word Games, a Word of the Day, and lots more for older students! The Word Central sub-site is a fun-filled place where elementary level kids can explore all kinds of fun things to do with words. (Grade Level: K-12, Parents, and Professionals)

AAA Math This interactive site provides online math exercises with explanations and challenging games as a resource for the classroom or for self-instruction or home schooling.
   
Count Us In This interactive site for primary children includes math games and activities designed to help children understand basic number concepts. (Grade Level: Pre-K-2)
   
ENC Online Come to ENC Online for information on more than 19,000 resources for K-12 math and science teachers, ENC Focus magazine, ENC's Digital Dozen of outstanding Web sites, and much more!  (Grade Level: K-12)
   
GoMath.com Go Math offers free online assistance with mathematics for k-12 students and their parents. It includes online tutors that will answer questions and give step-by-step solutions, games, tutorials, and interactive tools. Brain Pop Want to add a little pizzazz to your health and science classes or make homework more fun? Brain Pop is a fun interactive site that teaches about health and science through on-line movies, quizzes, and other activities. (Grade Level: 2-8)
   
Energy.Gov KidsZone
 
The KidsZone site provides information on energy and science education for students and teachers. It offers child-friendly games, contests, and information on energy resources and how to use energy wisely. (Grade Level: 3-5, 6-8, 9-12)
   
Jason Project Areas of the website include: an Expedition Journal, a Student section that allows JASON students to contact one another, a Teachers' Guide with curriculum tips and online projects as well as a section on organizations and schools involved with JASON. (Grade Level: K-12)
   
USGS Earthquakes for Kids
 
Earthquakes for Kids is part of the larger US Geological Survey Earthquake Hazards Program site. It includes games and puzzles, science fair ideas, facts, images, and more. (Grade Level: Pre-K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12)

FirstGov for Kids FirstGov for Kids is a web portal to government websites for kids. In addition to the government sites, links are available to organization and commercial pages in each of the twenty categories.     
   
Historic Maps in
K-12 Classrooms
Historic Maps in K-12 Classrooms is a project of the Newberry Library’s Hermon Dunlap Smith Center for the History of Cartography. It features lesson plans built around historically significant map documents that support a variety of social studies, history and geography curricula. (Grade Level: Pre-K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12)
   
Lewis and Clark as Naturalists
 
The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History created this informative Web site to give visitors the opportunity to travel with Lewis and Clark on their great expedition and learn about the plants and animals they encountered along the way.  (Grade Level: 3-5, 6-8)

Art Access is a site that presents online resources, from the Art Institute of Chicago's collection, for parents, students, and teachers. (Grade Level: 3-12, Parents, Teachers)
   
The Kennedy Center's ARTSEDGE ARTSEDGE is a cooperative agreement between the National Endowment for the Arts, the United States Department of Education, and the Education Department of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. It provides teachers with quality resources and interactive opportunities for "teaching in, through and about the arts".  (Grade Level: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12)
