Ms. Loach's Students' Writing:

The Day a Squirrel Came Into Our Classroom

By Miss Loach’s Class

Have you ever had a squirrel get into your classroom?  Well, we did and we’ll never forget the chaos of that day.  Here is our story.

It was a beautiful, warm, day so we opened up our windows for a spring breeze.  Suddenly, a squirrel came through our window!  It paused and looked all around the room.  It was twitching its tail and its fur stood up.  Some of us thought the squirrel looked cute.  Lexus said, “Awww, it’s so adorable.”  Some of us thought the squirrel looked ferocious because it had beady piercing eyes and sharp claws. The squirrel was hungry and it smelled our lunches.

Out of the blue, the squirrel started running around like crazy!  “Everybody run!” Daija yelled.  Steven ran out of the room screaming. Sara shouted, “Do you think it has rabies?” We buzzed the office, but they didn’t believe us!  Then, the squirrel went into Quincee’s desk and ripped up all his papers. Next, it ate Dominique’s homework. “No homework for me today!”  Dominique shouted excitedly. Miss Loach said, “Want to bet?”  Then, it started chewing Marco’s desk so he jumped back and bumped into the computers.  Suddenly, the squirrel ran under Anna’s desk and started nibbling on her shoelace, so Anna jumped onto her desk.  Next, The squirrel thought it saw an acorn on Adu’s head so it soared into his hair.  Adu screamed and threw the squirrel into Nakia’s cubby.  It started to make a nest in her cubby.  So, AJ got the broom from the closet and swung at the squirrel.  Unfortunately, the squirrel attacked the broom and chomped it up.

Finally, Amanda had an idea.  She said, “Let’s feed it!”  Anthony replied, “Yeah, let’s feed it Luke’s lunch!”  So, Luke ran to get his lunch and fed the squirrel his sandwich.  The squirrel rapidly gobbled it up.  Immediately after that, it burped.  Then, the squirrel crawled onto Noelle’s lap and fell asleep.  “Look, it’s sweet and gentle,” said Celestino.  “Can we keep it as a classroom pet?” whined Wintana.  “Yes!  Please, please, please,” we begged.  Danny pouted at Miss Loach.  “We promise we’ll take good care of it,” said Danny.  “Oh, alright,” sighed Miss Loach, “but you’ll have to take turns taking the squirrel home on the weekends.”

The next day, we decided to write a story about the day a squirrel came into our classroom, and you have just read that story.
