Occoquan
Elementary School
is unique in many ways. Founded in 1927, it is the oldest functioning school
in Prince William County. Throughout the years, Occoquan has served
thousands of students and has been a wonderful workplace for hundreds of
faculty and staff members. Some of our students’ parents and grandparents
attended the school. As a result, Occoquan has become an integral part of
the community. We are truly proud of Occoquan’s history, but what is more remarkable is how the school has kept up with the times, providing students with outstanding instructional experiences in a learning environment that is nurturing and values the unique characteristics of each child. Our motto, "WHERE EVERYBODY IS SOMEBODY", says it all. We make it a priority to learn about each child’s strengths, learning styles, areas of needed growth, interests, etc. We know that every child develops at different rates in different areas. It is our goal to provide each student with learning experiences that are developmentally appropriate, enabling him or her to be successful. At Occoquan, we have a top-notch staff. Our teachers are among the very best. They continually strive to utilize current best practices in the instructional program. I am particularly impressed with how dedicated our teachers are to their students and to the Occoquan community. Our staff portrays a wonderful balance between seasoned veterans who have served Occoquan for many years, other experienced teachers who have wanted to join our team, and new teachers who bring with them enthusiasm, maturity, and the desire to be the best. I trust that visitors find all of our staff- teachers, instructional aides, office staff, custodians, and cafeteria staff, to be enthusiastically dedicated to being the best for our students. And it is our beautiful students who are the icing on Occoquan’s cake. Our students enjoy coming to school every day. They are learning to understand how important a quality education is to their future and how it is up to them to make the most of their time in school. We are extremely proud of our school. If you are new to the community or would like to learn more about Occoquan Elementary or the instructional program in Prince William County Schools, please come for a visit.
