Ruritan Stew Sale

The Nokesville Ruritans would like to invite the Bristow Run School Community to their annual Brunswick Stew Sale on Saturday, the 27th of October.  You’ll find them on the corner of Rt. 28 and Fitzwater Dr. – Sale starts around 11:00am.

Bus Stop Reminders:

It has come to our attention that some students are crossing busy streets before the bus stops for pick up.  Please remember to stay on the side of the street that you live on until the bus arrives.

When waiting for the school bus, please line up and be ready when the bus arrives.  Remember to pick up any trash that you left behind and throw it away in a trashcan.  Several homeowners have reported that there is garbage in their yard left by students waiting for the school bus.

Landscaping Committee

The Landscaping Committee would like to thank Lori Dewey, Gigi Larsen, and Dave & Mackenzie Beavers for all their hard work weeding and planting to help beautify the front of our school!  If you would like to join the Landscaping Committee, please contact Eileen Beavers at 703-753-6019 or eileenbeavers@comcast.net.  Thanks!

Caitie’s Courtyard

If you have a chance, please visit “Caitie’s Courtyard”.  Mrs. Nonnemaker and her mother, Mrs. Shipper, with Mrs. Curry’s help have planted colorful mums to beautify the garden.  Mrs. Shipper donated the plants and brought them from Wyomissing, PA.  Our appreciation and thanks to Mrs. Nonnemaker and her team.

A note from your School Counselors about

Character Counts Week

During this week we want to focus on and celebrate good character, especially in the six pillars:

Trustworthiness             Fairness

Respect                         Caring

Responsibility                 Citizenship

What can you do for with your children to promote good character?

Pay special attention to the six pillars during daily routines and draw attention to instances when your child shows good character.

Tell them about times when you found it difficult to follow one of the pillars, and how you handled those situations.

Focus on character during family discussions about schoolwork, friends, household chores, upcoming events, future goals, etc.

Watch movies or TV shows together and talk about the values of the main characters, and whether they are positive or      negative role models.

Mr. Uhthoff, Crossing Guard

We would like everyone to know that Mr. Uhthoff was taken to the hospital yesterday.  He is doing fine, we will keep you informed.  The family appreciates everyone’s concern and would like you to keep them in your thoughts.
