Thanks for stopping by. Let me take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Rebecca Kurylo and I am the Instructional Consultation Team Facilitator here at Henderson Elementary School.

This is a new position at Henderson and a fairly new position in Prince William County. My job is to work with teachers who need a little extra support with students in their classroom by helping them better match their instruction to their students’ needs. The Instructional Consultation (IC) Process is a structured problem-solving process where we look at the strengths and needs of a particular student. My job is not to work with students one on one but to collaborate with teachers and support them in the problem solving process.

This year my job includes receiving advanced training in the IC process, building and training an IC Team here at Henderson, and collaborating with teachers to problem solve. If you have any questions about the IC process you can visit the following website http://www.icteams.umd.edu or feel free to contact me and I will be happy to answer any questions you might have regarding the program.
Thank you for your interest in the IC process!

Goals and Objectives
Goal: To Enhance/ Improve/ Increase Student and Staff performance
Objectives:
- Develop a systematic support network within each building, including a trained Instructional Consultation Team.
- Enhance teachers' skills in and application of best practices of instructional assessment and delivery
- Develop school-wide norms of collaboration and problem-solving
- Utilize data for classroom and school decisions
Description
The IC Team model is a research based model of intervention that aligns school resources for the express purpose of improving staff and student performance.
Full implementation of the IC Team model is a long term process (3-5 years) that will continue to be supported by Prince William County.
At the core of Instructional Consultation is the development, training, implementation, and evaluation of interdisciplinary school-based teams.
The composition of the IC Team includes administrators, general and special educators, and pupil services personnel. Each team member is trained in Instructional Consultation and assumes a case management role when working with a classroom teacher who requests assistance of the team.
Case managers and classroom teachers engage in a Collaborative Problem-Solving Process that is systematic and in which decisions are determined by the collection of specific student data.
