Use Homework to Teach Organization Skills

  • Encourage your child to use the "Agenda Book" to write down assignments. Review the agenda daily.
  • Encourage your child to estimate how long it will take to complete each assignment.
  • Help your child to learn how to plan ahead.  They should work on major assignments or review for tests ahead of time.
  • Encourage your child to review class notes and add details or make corrections.
  • Help your child increase reading skills by having them read for at least 15 minutes per evening.
  • Help your child proofread and check for accuracy in their answers.
  • Encourage your child to space studying over several sessions instead of cramming the night before.
