PTO Parents are a vital part of the Stonewall school community. They are invited and encouraged to become involved as volunteers in the school offices and classrooms, and as members of the PTO. Opportunities are available for classroom visits that allow parents the opportunity to see students at work. Of course, parents are encouraged to support their students as they display their talents as members of athletic teams, music groups and the many other events offered during the school year. |

Tdap Vaccination Mandatory for Rising Sixth Graders Health officials are urging parents to vaccinate their rising sixth-graders now to avoid the summer rush, and to make sure that their children’s vaccination records are up-to-date for the 2007-08 school year. This year all students must be vaccinated with the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccine prior to school entry on the first day of school. This would apply to those that have not been vaccinated for tetanus for at least five years. Health departments and schools are working together to make sure parents get the message to vaccinate their students early. Local health departments will provide the Tdap vaccine free of charge to uninsured rising sixth-graders. (Some fees may apply for other vaccines.) For health department information in Prince William County, call 703.732.6301 (Manassas) or 703.792.7300 (Woodbridge), or log on to www.pwcgov.org and click on health. Clinics are located at 9301 Lee Avenue in Manassas and 13792 Smoketown Road in Woodbridge. For more information on the Tdap vaccine, visit www.cdc.gov/nip. |
