Stonewall Middle School has a site-based gifted program known as SIGNET. Students are identified using a multi-criteria matrix including ability test scores, achievement test scores, state test scores, grades, parent comments, teacher recommendations, and student work. Students found eligible for services participate in a dual services model with daily extended classes as well as enrichment opportunities through the SIGNET center two-periods per week.
Testing will be held at the school several times during the year. Cases are then presented at the school level and at the county level. Identification is determined by the county level committee in September, November, January, march, and June.
Interested parents should contact Mrs. Terri Wiseman, wisematb@pwcs.edu.
How does SIGNET work at Stonewall Middle School?
Students are encouraged to participate in the IBMYP classes.
Students are cluster grouped in the core classes.

Students use “Thinking Maps” and other creative processes as they work on Independent Centers or Classes or warm-up activities in grades 6 and 7. Grade 8 students still complete warm-up activities, but they also compete in National History Day or Vex Robotics challenges.
Students conference with me about their grades at each reporting period and we decide if they need to attend any particular classes instead of resource until the next reporting period.
Students bring newsletters each quarter
Semester evaluations and work are sent in Feb. and June.
