Members of the NJHS are chosen and formally inducted at the end of the seventh grade for outstanding achievement in scholarship, citizenship, service, leadership, and character. They are recognized for their accomplishments on a national level. They must maintain a 3.45 cumulative grade average, document at least 5 hours of community service, and follow school and class rules to receive no discipline referrals. Projects may include such activities leading " approaches to learning sessions", fundraising to support the induction ceremony, making encouragement packets for SOL tests, taking care of the flags and announcements, and serving as guides for various functions (new student/parent orientation, SABRES night, Back-to School night, guest delegations, etc).
