FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE N.R. #120, 12/10/03 Date: December 10, 2003
SCHOOL DIVISION EARNS EIGHTH ANNUAL BUDGET AWARD For the eighth consecutive year, the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International has awarded a Meritorious Budget Award to Prince William County Public Schools for the school year budget document. The award is given to recognize excellence in the preparation and issuance of a school system annual budget. This award reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to achieving the highest standards of school budgeting. The Meritorious Budget Awards Program is a voluntary program sponsored by ASBO International. The program was designed by school business management professionals to recognize school business administrators who achieve a standard of excellence in budget preparation. The award is only conferred on school systems that meet or exceed the program’s thirty criteria. No other organization or award program is specifically designed to enhance school budgeting and honor a school division for a job well done. The Association of School Business Officials International, founded in 1910, is a professional association that provides programs and services to promote the highest standards of school business management practices, professional growth, and the effective use of educational resources. The School Board will recognize Robert Ferrebee, Associate Superintendent
for Management; David Cline, Director of Finance; and Bob Horwath, Supervisor
of Budget, in February for this outstanding achievement.
