TEACHER AWARD FINALISTS SELECTED

Four outstanding educators have been selected as finalists for the Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award and Prince William County Teacher of the Year.  Brian Bassett, IB science, Gar-Field High School; Phyllis Keiser, fifth grade, Springwoods Elementary School; Lynn Sillitoe, multi-grade, six-eight, New Dominion Alternative School; and Victoria Wilcox, first grade, Marshall Elementary School were selected from among twenty nominees.  They were selected based on their ability to instill in students a desire to learn and achieve, understanding of the individual needs of students, thorough knowledge and ability to share that knowledge, cooperative relationships, and outstanding leadership.  The Washington Post will announce the winner in early April and the finalists will be recognized at the April 23 meeting of the Prince William County School Board.
