GOLDEN JUBILEE FOR OSBOURN PARK GUIDANCE COUNSELOR

Osbourn Park High School is honoring Lillian Orlich for fifty years of service to Prince William County Public Schools with a Golden Jubilee on Saturday, April 26 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the school.  A reception kicks off the evening, followed by a program at 6:00 p.m. and dinner at 7:15 p.m.  To make a reservation for the golden dinner, please send a $25 check payable to Osbourn Park High School to Cheryl Robinson, Osbourn Park High School, 8909 Euclid Avenue, Manassas, VA 20111.  To help defray the cost of the event, donations can also be sent to the school.

To make the Jubilee more memorable and to mark this rare achievement of fifty years of service to the field of education, colleagues and former students are invited to submit congratulatory and/or recognition letters that will be included in the celebration.  Please send letters to Cheryl Robinson, Osbourn Park High School, 8909 Euclid Avenue, Manassas, VA 20111.

Miss Orlich, a guidance counselor at Osbourn Park High School, came to Osbourn High School (then a county school) in 1950, having just completed graduate school, to teach English and social studies.  “The principal introduced me as the ‘girl from Manhattan’,” recalls Miss Orlich, a New York native, “I can even remember what I was wearing.”  Except for a brief period in the 1960s when she left the area to become a vice principal in New Jersey, Miss Orlich has been with Prince William County Schools ever since, serving at various times as teacher, eighth grade coordinator, and, since 1970, as a full-time guidance counselor.  A Manassas-area institution, she counts among her former pupils a mayor, judges, generals, and educators, more than a few of whom have already retired.
