STUDENTS EARN ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Two Prince William County high school students were among recipients of $2,500 National Achievement Scholarship awards announced today.  Tarik T. Jones and Makeda Kefale both attend Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, a magnet school for academically able students in Alexandria, Virginia.

More than 115,000 students requested consideration in the 2003 National Achievement Scholarship competition when they took the 2001 PSAT/NMSQT as high school juniors.  In September 2002, approximately 1,600 of the highest scorers were named Semifinalists on a regional representation basis.  Some 600 students were named scholarship winners today.
