STUDENTS EARN ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIPS Two Prince William County high school students were among recipients of $2,500 National Achievement Scholarship awards announced today. Tarik T. Jones and Makeda Kefale both attend Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, a magnet school for academically able students in Alexandria, Virginia. More than 115,000 students requested consideration in the 2003
National Achievement Scholarship competition when they took the 2001 PSAT/NMSQT
as high school juniors. In September 2002, approximately 1,600 of
the highest scorers were named Semifinalists on a regional representation
basis. Some 600 students were named scholarship winners today.
