OSBOURN PARK STUDENTS RECEIVE RIBBONS IN TENTH CONGRESSIONAL ART SHOW

Seven Osbourn Park High School students received ribbons in the Tenth Congressional District Art Show held recently during spring break.  Fourteen schools and over 200 students participated and displayed artwork.

Lucy Kirkman won first place in printmaking for a monoprint of a tractor, and Chris Muth placed second for a drypoint of a clipper ship.  In the Mixed Media category, Nicole Coffineau placed second for her portrait in charcoal and tempera washes, and Becky Carey received third place for her still life in charcoal and tempera washes.  Lucy Kirkman received second place in the painting category for a portrait created with ink wash.  Also in the painting category, two students received honorable mention, Ashley Arnwine for her portrait in oils, and Lindsey Krantz for her tempera portrait.

The art competition is sponsored by Congressman Frank Wolf and is open to all high school students residing in the Tenth Congressional District.  The nationwide competition was launched in 1982 by the U.S. House of Representatives to encourage the growth and development of art.  More than 500,000 high school students participate nationwide.  First place winners are offered the opportunity to hang their art work in Congressman Wolf's office on Capitol Hill.
