EMPLOYEES RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE Thirty-two individual Prince William County Public School employees, one department, one school, and twelve teams of employees were recognized by the School Board at the eighth annual Staff Recognition Awards ceremony held on Tuesday, May 25 at Forest Park High School. The awards recognize and promote excellence in the school division. The awards are presented in three categories: Courage, awarded to an individual who has performed well despite overcoming a major obstacle or for his or her heroic action; Achievement, awarded for a specific accomplishment; and Performance, awarded to employees, teams, departments, or schools for outstanding performance over a period of time. The Courage Award was presented to Barbara Hanlin, Antietam Elementary School; Robert Harris, Bennett Elementary School; Cynthia Mendel, Antietam Elementary School; Teri Tracey, Antietam Elementary School; and Laureen Wycinsky, Antietam Elementary School. Christina Barcalow, Graham Park Middle School, received the Outstanding Achievement Award. Recipients of the Individual Performance Award were Laurie Baber, Purchasing; Kathy Dove, Penn Elementary School; Denise Fernald, West Gate Elementary School; Cheryl Fisher, Transportation; Karen Garon, C.D. Hylton High School; Naomi Grayson, Transportation; Bud Hearne, Woodbridge Senior High School; Diana Hobbs, Potomac High School; Margaret Holt, C.D. Hylton High School; Debbie Landry, Benton Middle School; Nancy Luke, Springwoods Elementary School; and Elmer Magyar, New Dominion Alternative School. Also receiving the Individual Performance Award were Mary Pat McCartney, Bristow Run Elementary School; Debbie Nicely, Godwin Middle School; Bernadine Nowell, West Gate Elementary School; Penny Parker, Benton Middle School; Kris Pedersen, Area III; Howard Pond, Mullen Elementary School; Doreen Raymond, Bull Run Middle School; Pat Rosenberger, Brentsville District High School; Valerie Shisler, Neabsco Elementary School; Ferrin Simmons, Kilby Elementary School; Glen Stietzel, Brentsville District High School; Celia Stone, Neabsco Elementary School; Ann Taylor, King Elementary School; and Dolores Zulian, Marumsco Hills Elementary School. Teams and departments receiving the Outstanding Performance Award were Special Education Comprehensive Child Study Team, Sudley Elementary School Custodial Team, Organizational Staff Development Emeritus Lead Mentor Team, Instructional Technology Specialists, Alternative Education GED Instructional Staff, ESOL and Foreign Language ESOL SLATE Committee, Gifted Education Identification Procedures Revision Team, C.D. Hylton High School Model United Nations Sponsors, Kerrydale Elementary School Third Grade Team, Loch Lomond Elementary School Reading Team, New Dominion Alternative School Responsible Parenting Team, Woodbridge Middle School Peer Partners Program Team, and Rippon Middle School Math Department. Brentsville District High School received the Outstanding School Performance
