GOVERNOR’S SCHOOL, FOREIGN LANGUAGE ACADEMY 
APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

Seventy-three Prince William County Public Schools students have been selected to attend Governor’s school programs and the 2004 Foreign Language Academies this summer.

These special programs are provided by the Commonwealth of Virginia at a variety of locations throughout the state for gifted students who are rising juniors and seniors.  Governor’s school programs range from four to six weeks and include the humanities; visual and performing arts; mathematics, science and technology; and the Foreign Language Academies.

Students who will attend the Governor’s School for Mathematics, Science and Technology at Lynchburg College June 27 to July 24 include, from Hylton High School, Sung-Eun Yun; Gar-Field High School, Lauren Firich, and Patricia Marino; Osbourn Park High School, Monica Cawley, Carolyn Edson, Joshua Olson, Jennifer Rhudy-Nakamura, and Kristen Wolf; Potomac High School, Ayushma Shrestha; and Stonewall Jackson High School, Brianne Connolly, William Kohlbrenner, Max Salazar, and Kathryn Sheedy.

Those selected to attend the Governor’s School for the Humanities at the University of Richmond June 27 to July 24 include, from Hylton High School, Sarah Argodale, Reuben Cruz, and Emily Vallowe; Forest Park High School, Melissa Tacey; Gar-Field High School, Ashley Amidon; Osbourn Park High School, Daniel Clark and Matthew Matese; Stonewall Jackson High School, Rasheed Badr, Brittany Duck, Erica Hart, Jennifer MacLure, Erin Rickard, and Desiree Smith; and Woodbridge Senior High School, Eileen Casterline, Kristyn Schomp, and Timothy Wolff.

Students who will attend the Governor’s School for the Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Richmond, June 27 to July 24, include, from Hylton High School, Shaina Higgins, and Matthew Marcus; Forest Park High School, Caitlin Collins and Levette Jones; Gar-Field High School, Jacob Cunningham, Robert Funches, Sarah Taylor, and Stephanie Thomas; Osbourn Park High School, Rachel Beauregard, Jaime Blair, Gina Consumano, Brandon Garay, and Jessica Richers; Potomac High School, Dustin Lovell; Stonewall Jackson High School, Rachel Moorefield; and Woodbridge Senior High School, Sasha Hollinger and Cara McGaughey.

Sara Sanders, Brentsville District High School; Allison Meranta, Hylton High School; Zareen Ismael, Richard Knack, and Stephen Schorn, Forest Park High School; Arthur DeAnna, Kelly Jamieson, Kapo Leung, Elizabeth MacMurray, and Maria Puglisi, Gar-Field High School; Farhan Ahmad and Najiba Murad, Potomac High School; Dante Earle, Hoang Anh Levo, and Janice Son, Stonewall Jackson High School; and Elizabeth Bourquardez, Woodbridge Senior High School, will attend the Governor’s School for Agriculture held at Virginia Tech from July 4 to July 31.

Students listed below have been accepted to attend the 2004 Governor’s Foreign Language Academies at Virginia Commonwealth University to be held as follows: Spanish, June 26 to July 18; Russian, June 27 to July 18; French, June 26 to July 18; and Japanese, June 27 to July 18.
