SCHOOL DIVISION EARNS NINTH ANNUAL BUDGET AWARD

For the ninth consecutive year, the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International has awarded its Meritorious Budget Award to Prince William County Public Schools for the school year budget document. The award is given to recognize excellence in the preparation and issuance of a school system annual budget. “This award represents a significant achievement by the jurisdiction. It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest standards of school budgeting,” said Anne W. Miller, Ph.D., Executive Director of the ASBO.

The Meritorious Budget Awards Program is a voluntary program designed by ASBO International and school business management professionals to recognize school business administrators who achieve a standard of excellence in budget preparation and presentation. The program is sponsored by ING. The award is only conferred on school systems that meet or exceed the program’s thirty criteria. No other organization or award program is specifically designed to enhance school budgeting and honor a school division for a job well done.
The Association of School Business Officials International, founded in 1910, is a professional association that provides programs and services to promote the highest standards of school business management practices, professional growth, and the effective use of educational resources. Visit www.asbointl.org for more information on the ASBO.

The School Board will recognize Wayne Mallard, Associate Superintendent of Management; David Cline, Director of Finance; and Bob Horwath, Supervisor of Budget, for this achievement in February .
