FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE N.R. #21, 7/30/04 Date: July 30, 2004 BULL RUN MIDDLE SCHOOL HAS HEALTHY KIDS Bull Run Middle School has been awarded the Virginia Action for Healthy
Kids silver medal for the school’s promotion of healthy eating
habits and nutritional education among students. Lisa Collis, the First
Lady of Virginia and honorary chair on the Virginia Action for Healthy
Kids Task Force, plans to formally recognize schools in the fall with
certificates and a possible visit. The goal of the VAFHK is to improve
the health of youth in Virginia by improving the nutrition of school
lunches and snacks and the quality of physical activities during and
outside of school. In addition, they work toward furthering instruction
in health and physical education for students to help them understand
the merits of good nutrition and a physically active lifestyle. # # #
