15, 2005 WOODBRIDGE JROTC PROGRAM INSPECTION RECEIVES TOP HONORS During a formal inspection last month, the Woodbridge JROTC Program received the highest honors, “Honor Unit with Distinction,” earning a 98 percent rating. “We have been in that category ever since we were established in 1993,” said founders Sergeant Major (retired) Joe Neely and Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Franklyn Matthews. Every three years the JROTC program undergoes a formal inspection. Twenty other schools also participated in the inspection. Cadets were graded on uniform appearance and general uniform knowledge. The cadet staff presented a Power Point briefing on their areas of responsibilities and opened their files to an in-depth inspection. The color guard and unarmed drill platoon were required to present a specified drill movements performance. “We had 159 students
the first year and have grown to over 200 students enrolled in the
JROTC program.” said Matthews. Sergeant First Class (retired)
Freddie Elliott also teaches with Neely and Matthews.
