18, 2005 STUDENTS NAMED BEST IN SHOW FOR REGIONAL SCIENCE FAIR Three Prince William County Public School students received top honors, “Best in Show,” for their science fair projects at the Middle/Senior Division of the Prince William County-Manassas Regional Science Fair held on March 12, 2005, at Grace Metz Middle School. Laura Sandtner, a seventh grader at Bull Run Middle School, won “first place and “Best in Show” in the behavioral science category for her project, We’ve Got Your Number. Potomac High School eleventh grade students, Reema Chaudhry and Saima Zaman, received “Best in Show” distinction and first place in the medicine and health category for The Effect of Age and Gender on Cognition Rates. Reema and Saima will compete in Intel’s International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix, Arizona in May. Participants included seventh through twelfth grade students who have earned first place honors in their categories at their individual schools. The categories judged were behavioral and social sciences, biochemistry, botany, chemistry, computer science, earth and space sciences, engineering and mathematics, environmental science, gerontology, medicine and health, microbiology, physics, zoology and team projects for students in grades nine through twelve. An awards assembly was held in the high school auditorium. A list of the middle school division and senior division is attached.
